If you can’t remember who Martin Bashir is, he is the journalist who famously interviewed Princess Diana in 1995 where she talked about there being three people in the marriage. Martin Bashir also made the Michael Jackson documentary in 2003 which garnered him international fame.

Whilst Martin Bashir was filming a Nightline show for ABC News in America last month he had an injury which meant he needed to go to hospital. It was only during treatment that the pituitary gland tumour was found.

The pitiutary gland site beneath the brain and has effect on most of the hormones in our body. Luckily most of the tumors found on the pituitary gland are benign but some of them can be malignant. When a tumor occurs it can cause the gland to produce too many hormones in the body and this can lead to problems. If too much glucocorticoids are produced this can cause Cushing’s disease. Acromegaly is another type of pituitary gland tumour which causes the hand, face and feet to grow larger than normal.
