Abigail Breslin is only 12 years old yet has already had a better career than most actors would dream of. She’s been in Sunshine, Princess Diaries 2 and Raising Helen. So what’s all this about User 927 then? Well, it seems that some time ago, AOL released the details of search requests made by 650,000 subscribers however instead of giving over their names they gave over numeric ids. So much for private profiles! They were supposed to be for academic researchers only but somehow ended up on a public forum. Somehow, The New York Times and The Washington Post were able to track down the names of two of the AOL users but no one has been able to identify User 927. What makes User 927 so interesting is the type of searches made including the terms Mange, Human Mold, White Camellia, Dying Elmo. Now Katharine Clark Gray and Director Michael Alltop are turning this story into a play which you can see at The Studio at St. Stephen’s Theater June 11-22. Read the rest of this entry »
This tactic may be useful for the birthday party games. Please, look at that. Of course, the piece of resistance will be the mummy wrapped in the corner (if this is not part of his hiding place Halloween should be after this). Read the rest of this entry »
Have you seen the photos of the Scion Hako concept car? What do you think of it? Well, sorry, but I don’t think I can actually print me first response to it. It’s just so effing horrible! I think it’s got to be the most ugly car ever produced and was designed by someone in the advances stages of cataracts.
Also, with all this talk of being environmentally friendly, hypermiling and biodiesel, the actual design of the Scion Hako can’t be condusive for fuel efficiency. I mean, it’s got the aerodynamic properties of a brick! I just remember when I was at college and we had to design a car, I saw photos of old fashioned cars such as the AC Ace in a wind tunnel and the aerodynamic properties were terrible. Lilly Allen, the girl with 3 nipples, is supposed to start filming for a movie called Lesbian Vampire Killers. Ans sure enough, Lilly Allen is going to play the part of a lesbian vampire. I’ve seen a few vampire movies in my time and this seems the oddest. I suppose men have a weird fantasy over vampiresses and also lesbian lovers so this film should tick a few boxes for the men. Who could forget the masterpiece that was Juno. However you really have to thank Jason Reitman as this was the man who adapted the book for the big screen. Earlier this year Jason Reitman suggested that he would be adapting another book but wouldn’t say what it was. Luckily all the waiting is over and you will be interested to know that the next adaptation is Walter Kirn’s Up in the Air. This isn’t the first book by Walter Kirn to be adapted into a movie; his book Thumbsucker was released as a film in 2005, featuring Keanu Reeves and Vince Vaughn.
It seems that Up in the Air by Walter Kirn is about a guy called Ryan Bingham who works for companies who want to fire their executives without legal problems. One of the ambitions of Ryan Bingham is to complete one million air miles. I have to admit that this seems a very strange plot and not your typical Hollywood material. This, however, is probably a good thing as you can only watch so many movies about a man and a woman who hate each other but secretly are in love. Give us a break!
So many film makers are scared shitless about making a movie that is a little bit different from the norm. Which is why so many movies all end up being much the same. They become so predictable there almost isn’t any point in spending money on a cinema ticket.
